Public Lecture by Sourav Kargupta (Aarhus)
On December 9, 2015, 6 p.m. (s.t.), a public lecture by Sourav Kargupta (Erasmus Mundus postdoctoral fellow, School of Culture and Society, Aarhus University, Denmark) will take place in our Research Cluster. The subject of the lecture is: "Postcolonial Feminist Ethics: the Problem of Non-Essential Readings".

Workshop "Experimentierfeld Dorf"
Am 10./11. Dezember findet im Forschungsschwerpunkt "Gesellschaft und Kultur in Bewegung" der Auftaktworkshop zum Forschungsprojekt "Experimentierfeld Dorf" statt. Auf diesem werden sowohl die jeweiligen Teilprojekte als auch weitere Forschungs- und Dissertationsprojekte zum Themengebiet vorgestellt und diskutiert. Book Presentation: Paola Ferruta, Die Saint-Simonisten und die Konstruktion des Weiblichen (1829-1845)
On November 11th, 2015, 6-8pm, Paola Ferruta will present her book Die Saint-Simonisten und die Konstruktion des Weiblichen (1829-1845). Eine Verflechtungsgeschichte mit der Berliner Haskala. Matthias Kaufmann (SCM/Department of Philosophy) and Gerold Necker (Jewish Studies) will comment her introduction and will also lead the following discussion. The book presentation will take place in the SCM seminar room, Reichardtstr. 6.
Roundtable “Whatever happens in Egypt”
The Research Cluster “Society and Culture in Motion” and the Seminary for Arabic and Islamic Studies of Halle University will hold a roundtable with Egyptian guest researchers on the current situation in Egypt under the title of “Whatever happens in Egypt” to which you are cordially invited.

On Wednesday, October 14, 2015, 6 p.m. (s.t.), Haggag Ali from Cairo University will give a talk on "Egyptian Receptions of the Frankfurt School".

Haggag Ali, a specialist in comparative literature who is working on Egyptian receptions of critical theory, belongs to a group of young Egyptian researchers associated with SCM Senior Research Fellow Daniele Cantini´s BMBF project on "Knowledge Production at Egyptian Public Universities". The Egyptian researchers will visit Halle for a research stay from 13 to 20 October, 2015.

„Amo Lecture“ von Arthur MacGregor (Oxford/London) und Workshop
Die Landesforschungsschwerpunkte „Aufklärung, Religion, Wissen“ und "Gesellschaft und Kultur in Bewegung" laden in Zusammenarbeit mit den Franckeschen Stiftungen zur nächsten „Amo Lecture“ ein:
Arthur MacGregor (Oxford/London) spricht am 3. Juni 2015 um 18 Uhr c.t. im Amerika-Zimmer der Franckeschen Stiftungen zum Thema:
“From the Indianische Kunstkammer to the India Museum: Presentation and Representation of the Sub-continent in European Museums 1600-1850.”
Außerdem findet am 9. Juni 2015 von 9 bis 12 Uhr im Russland-Zimmer der Franckeschen Stiftungen ein Workshop zum Thema: “Representation (and misrepresentation) of the cabinet” statt.
Der Besuch des Workshops steht ebenfalls allen Interessierten offen, es wird allerdings um Anmeldung bis möglichst 5 Tage vorher gebeten unter: sebastian.boehmer@netzwerk-arw.uni-halle.de.
Buchpräsentation: Von Fremdheit lernen. Zum produktiven Umgang mit Erfahrungen des Fremden im Kontext der Globalisierung
Der Forschungsschwerpunkt "Gesellschaft und Kultur in Bewegung" lädt alle am Thema Interessierten sehr herzlich zu einer Präsentation des kürzlich erschienenen Sammelbandes "Von Fremdheit lernen" ein. Der Herausgeber Ralph Buchenhorst wird zusammen mit Caroline Meller-Hannich und Werner Nell (Halle) den Band vorstellen. In einem anschließenden Gastvortag wird Alfonso de Toro (Leipzig), einer der Beiträger des Bandes, zum Thema: „Bedeutung, Aktualität und Zukunft der Migrations-, Differenz- und Hybriditätsforschung“ sprechen.
Die Buchpräsentation findet statt am Mittwoch, den 20. Mai 2015 um 18:00 Uhr im Seminarraum des Forschungsschwerpunkts „Gesellschaft und Kultur in Bewegung“, Reichardtstr. 6 · D-06114 Halle (Saale).

German-Italian Vico Conference
"Giambattista Vicos De Universi Juris Uno Principio, et Fine Uno im
Kontext der europäischen Naturrechtstradition und Vicos Bedeutung für
die heutige Debatte"
Vom 6. bis 7. Mai 2015 findet im Seminarraum des Forschungsschwerpunkts "Gesellschaft und Kultur in Bewegung" in der Reichardtstr. 6 die deutsch-italienische Tagung "Giambattista Vicos De Universi Juris Uno Principio, et Fine Uno im Kontext der europäischen Naturrechtstradition und Vicos Bedeutung für die heutige Debatte" statt.
Die Tagung wird unter der Leitung von Matthias Kaufmann (Halle) vom Forschungsschwerpunkt "Gesellschaft und Kultur in Bewegung" und dem Seminar für Philosophie der MLU in Kooperation mit der Sezione di Filosofia del Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici der Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II veranstaltet.
Am Mittwoch, den 6. Mai 2015 beginnt die Tagung um 9:00 Uhr. Die Vorträge enden an diesem Tag gegen 18:00 Uhr. Am Donnerstag, den 7. Mai 2015 wird das Programm um 9:30 Uhr fortgesetzt. Tagungsende ist ca. 13:00 Uhr.

This workshop sets forth considerations for the development and validation of best reconciliation practices as discussed in our first international workshop “Conflict Resolution, Remembrance, and Justice: Towards an International Center for Reconciliation”, realized at the Research Cluster/Graduate School "Society and Culture in Motion", 16.–18.07.2014. The event invites young researchers to outline the steps for developing the framework for validating reconciliation methods and propose a roadmap for establishing an international agenda for best reconciliation practices. We attempt to define and justify methods or techniques that have consistently shown results superior to those achieved with other means and that are used as a benchmark
