"Serving democracy, peace and development" - this motto characterizes the assignment and work of the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation. It implies the foundation's engagement in Germany - particularly in the Free State of Bavaria - as well as abroad.

The foundation approaches to students and PhD students, who are supposed to demonstrate excellent scientific performance and socio-political engagement. This engagement comprehends cooperation in the social sector, in student organisations, church-based youth work and party political work.
