Der gefälschte Kalif. Eine Einführung in die Sīrat al-Ḥākim
bi-Amrillāh.

The project is a contribution to the study of the Siyar shaabiya.

The Sirat al-Hakim bi-Amrillah may be seen as a special representative of this Jenre, seen with a view to Islamic studies as well as to the motifs. So in the Sira the caliph is not shown as madgone cruel ruler, as usual in Sunni historiographical sources, but moreover in an ambivalent way, insisting on his generosity and geniality.

The study of some relevant manuscripts of the Sirat al-Hakim bi-Amrillah is a contribution to describe and explain the narrative according to content and literary performance.
