Überblick
Dissertationsprojekt: Exploring the Links Between Human Rights, Citizenship and Essentialism: a Philosophical Approach
The main concern of the study is to discuss the relationship between Human Rights, Citizenship and Essentialism in a philosophical perspective, and to explain how the essentialist approaches form and determine the condition of different identity groups, the citizenship constructs, human rights conceptualisation and the life of individuals. In this context, the main hypothesis of the study is that the nationalism as an essentialist approach determines the manner and extent of citizenship models. This study aims to define problems and categorizations related with the concepts, and to examine this problems and concepts critically. The study’s attention is focused not only this theoretical approach on the relation between Human Rights, Essentialism and Citizenship concepts, but also provide a framework to analyze facts and events regarding the citizenship formation, nation building process, and minority status of a different identity group in Turkey.
